TIRUMANGALAM BOYS TOWN

A Unit Of Boys Town Society, Tirumangalam

This Boys Town was established in 1965. It is located in 37.5 acres. This boys town is located on the way to Rajapalayam.

       1)School Visits: Directors and Asst.Director will visit the Schools regularly and will          
           discuss with teachers about the education status of our children.
             2)Yearly once one set of new Uniform will be stitched and given to our boys during the      month of July in addition to the free uniform given from the school.   
             3)Every year we supply free notebooks for the boys during the month of June.
4           4) Boys are going to School by Free Bus Pass. 

     Student Parliamentary System:

  Every year student will elect their own ministers and setup a Parliament. They will conduct
        parliament meetings regularly once in every month and have discussions about their 
        studies, activities, habits, farms, Bird watching, health, sports and so on.The Speaker will
       organize the Parliamentary Meetings on fourth Sunday of Every month. Suggestions and
       problems discussed in the meetings and solutions will be arrived. 
                                                            
       Boy’s Welfare:

      1) Hygienic Nutrition Food & Purified dirinking water
      2) Neat and Clean Environment
      3) There will be Annual Medical Check for all boys during the month of July. If any major health   problem then there will be regular follow up.
       4)De-warming tablets given for all the boys once in a six month.                               
       5) First Aid Box is kept there for any minor illness.
       6) All the children are insured for Accident Medical Claim Policy through
           Insurance Company. National Insurance Co. is our Insurance company

        Picnic:

           Every month during second weekend a group of  boys will be taken for a short Picnic and in       yearly once all of them will be taken for a long picnic.

         Important Events ( Functions & Festival):

         The Following functions and Festivals will be celebrated in Boys Towns
         1. New Year , Pongal  & Annual Sports ( Two days in Grand Manner)
         2. Republic Day
         3. Foundation day & Independence day
         4. Teacher day, Vinayagar chathurthi
         5. Founders day and Pooja festival
         6. Diwali & Childrens Day
         7. Christmas

          Extra- Curricular Activities:

          1)Tuition Teacher visits daily in the evening and giving tuition to our children.
          2)Computer training given to all the students  by the Computer Instructor on Saturdays.
          3)Craft Instructor visiting once a week and giving coaching to do craft items in the unit.
          4) P.E.T visiting the unit at the week ends and games and sports training to our boys. 

         Farm:
        
        We are cultivating ladies finger, radish, lentil, Amla, Papaya, Bottle Guard, Pulses, Coconut   and Sappota. Recently we have cultivated black dhal from our farm.

   BTS Scout:

  •       Our nine boys in the Scout troop participated in the three days Rajyapuraskar Award Programme camp (27th, 28 and  29thJuly, 2012) conducted at Jakammalpatti, Andipatti, Theni District at Hindu Higher Sec.Scool.
  • Few of our boys attended Stamps & Coin collection exhibition held at Madurai

   Diwali Celebrations:
   Children those who have stayed at boys town, children village were celebrated Diwali along     with our founder Mr.Joe Homan and Volunteer Ms.Violetta. They enjoyed diwali by playing crackers and eating sweets.
